Davis Market Day

Davis Market is an open air market that opens from 8am to 2pm on Sats only. Lotsa cheap grocery here. We usually buy our vegetables, fruits (the honeydew here is REAL sweet! $1.30 each only) and fishes here. Apart from these, there are many stalls selling ornaments, toiletries, drinks, burgers, bread, yoghurt, sausages, books, massage and tarot card reading services, "gypsies" singing and playing instruments. It's a superb place for dog watching as well..coz many people bring their doggies for their marketing here.

Sugarcane juice for $4 bucks per cup??? Froggies! I miss the sugarcane plus lemon at hawker centre! $1.20 per big cup only!

Me choosing the fishes....having some fried fish next week...instead of just fish fingers!

Me choosing potatoes. Hmm...can make curry puffs and baked potatoes next week...cannot eat so much rice liao...putting on weight liao.....

Me choosing beans...must have vegetables! We also bought cabbage, button mushrooms, capsicums and my favourite honeydew!

This is an "organic" stall. Quite a number of stalls selling organic products here. The vegetables look malnourished, but more expensive..Hahaha...I think I prefer the fertilised ones.

OOOOOOO.....I HAD to take this picture with this big guy here. Somebody tell me the breed of this dog! He's enormous (and by the way, there are many HUGE dogs at the competition...your eyes will just pop). He was just lying on the table...and so gentle. Every passer-by couldn't resist patting him. He tried to lick me too!
Posted 21/8/06 - This cute doggy here is a bearded collie. Thanks Sam!

My favourite dog now. Siberian husky! Look how obedient he is. He's looking intently at his owner...not fidgeting even one inch.
The participating doggies.....real cute! The doggies here are all so well-trained! There must be at least 500 doggies here. But you only hear an occassional bark. Amazing!
During the dog competition, each dog and their owner are assigned to one of these little numbered cubicles. Look like prison cells! The owners will make themselves and their beloved canine friend comfortable by bringing pillows, cushions and blankets. Then they will cuddle together till their turn comes.
Cotton candy girls! There's a mini parade at 1pm everyday....think the stuff we see at chingay parade is many times nicer. Haha....

Champion bananas! I wonder how the judges make their decision. By the colour and size of the bananas? They look all the same to me! Hmmm...will make nice goreng pisang!

Look! A real scarecrow! But I think this is a friendly one...look at the smiley face! How to scare off the birdies??
These are the champion horses. They look so grand while doing their winning gallop around the stadium....horses are nice.....

This guy here is BIG! His name is called "the Ram". Heee...just look at his horns!

Green, blue and pink chickens? I wonder what these chickens had to go through!!

How's this for a champion cow? Imagine it in the form of hamburgers, beef steaks, beef pies, spaghetti, lasagna, pizzas or a geniune leather handbag? Heee.....
The lamb lamb.....all fluffy and cute before the "cut"...
OK...here we go!

Half-way through....the woolie is coming off nicely....

Nearly done....stay still for a while longer.....

He looks so sad! And suffered a cut on his hing leg. Look, it's still bleeding

Strawberry Sundae anyone?

The big ferris wheel right in the middle of the showgrounds

See the big balloon cow cow....so cute!

This is the contents of another showbag. See the bottled thingys? I used to eat them when I was a kid. These were sold in neighbourhood provision shops (the ma-ma shops...for those who are in my era) for i think, at most 50cents per bottle! How come the OZs here are crazy over stuff that we ate 20 years ago! Scratch head.......

This is one of the "special deals". 6 little packs of chips for $4 bucks. Nah....I'm not tempted at all!

The place where everyone gets their showbags. Every stall has a theme - cadbury chocolates, willy wonka candies, barbie, carebears, spongebob squarepants, the incredibles....almost all the famous cartoon character was "represented". And when you buy something from a particular stall, you get their plastic bags. So if you want to collect the bags, you will need to spend a huge bomb on the goodies

My third week at school. Hubby prepared lunch and we ate it in the park. 3 little ducks waddled up to us..maybe the smell of food lured them here. I was so tempted to share my lunch...Haha... The duckies waddled off after a while...think they got the hint that they are not getting any food from us.
